About the client and the task
Client: a distributor of petrochemical products and process equipment.

Task: organise end-to-end delivery of an extrusion line for polymer processing from China to Nizhnekamsk, Russia.
Cargo details
  • 52 × 40’HC containers

  • 1 × 20’DC / special OOG container with an out-of-gauge unit — a four-stage extrusion head

    • overall height (incl. base): 2,550 mm
    • base: 3,700 × 2,300 × 300 mm
    • weight: 29.1 t

Most containers included individual pieces weighing over 1.5 tons, which is considered heavy cargo under transport rules and requires special securing and handling conditions.
Route
Ocean freight from China → Port of Nakhodka → single-batch customs clearance → rail delivery to Nizhnekamsk.
Client's wishes
Synchronized delivery: all 53 containers (52 × 40’HC and 1 × 20’) had to arrive to the Port of Nakhodka on one vessel.

Features of transportation
1) Synchronising the full batch

Growex agreed an extended gate-in window with the ocean carrier at the origin port in China. This allowed all 53 containers to be loaded onto the same vessel and kept the chain as one unified flow: ocean → Nakhodka → customs → rail → Nizhnekamsk.

2) Handling the unique out-of-gauge unit

The extrusion head was loaded into a 20’ Hardtop container. The removable rigid roof and container design enabled safe positioning of the tall, heavy unit on a wooden base and ensured protection throughout the route.

3) Securing plans for heavy pieces

Securing schemes were developed for all containers containing cargo pieces over 1.5 t. The schemes were coordinated:

  • with the shipper in China — to ensure correct loading;
  • with the Russian rail operator — to meet rail-stage requirements.

4) Timeline and cost control

We negotiated extended container free time with the ocean carrier, preventing demurrage and additional costs during pickup and rail dispatch from the station.
Result for the client
Through detailed planning and fast execution, the equipment batch was delivered safely and on schedule. All 53 containers arrived in Nakhodka on a single vessel, cleared customs as one batch, and were delivered to Nizhnekamsk. The client received the full shipment within the agreed timeline, supporting their production schedule.
