Delivery of Tires from China to Russia
About the client and the task
Client: an importer of passenger and truck tires from China, a market leader in Southern Russia.

Task: tires are a seasonal product — summer tires ship mainly from November to February, and winter tires from June to September. The key requirement is strict adherence to delivery timelines. Equally important is speed and accuracy in customs clearance: each tire is treated as an individual item with its own barcode.
Cargo details
Passenger and truck tires, loaded into 40’HC containers using a “herringbone” (interlocked) loading pattern to maximise space utilisation.
Route
5 manufacturing plants in China → client’s warehouse in Krasnodarskiy Kray, Russia.

Delivery Options (3 multimodal schemes)

Scheme 1
  1. Pickup and trucking to the Port of Qingdao (China).
  2. Ocean freight in 40’ containers to Novorossiysk (Russia).
  3. Drayage by container trucks to the client’s warehouses.

Scheme 2
  1. Pickup and trucking to Qingdao.
  2. Ocean freight in 40’ containers to Vladivostok.
  3. Rail transport on flatcars to Moscow.
  4. Final delivery by container trucks to the client’s warehouses.

Scheme 3
  1. Consolidation at a warehouse in Qingdao (closest hub to the tire factories).
  2. Loading onto rail platforms in China.
  3. Direct container train to Moscow.
  4. Transfer to container trucks and delivery to the client’s warehouses.

The optimal scheme is selected for each shipment based on route congestion, total landed cost, and seasonality.
Features of transportation
For the client, lead time is critical: the cargo is further distributed from the warehouse to sales locations across the entire Southern Federal District. Purchases are made monthly, and any stock-out — even with safety stock — results in direct revenue loss.
Result for the client
Growex continuously monitors market conditions to select transport solutions that meet both timeline and cost targets. Having multiple schemes allows fast rerouting when capacity tightens or routes become congested.

We provide:

  • Delivery via the most efficient option by transit time and total cost.

  • End-to-end handling: container stuffing using the “herringbone” method, and careful reloading from container to truck where required.

  • Full customs support and clearance via Growex Customs (customs broker, No. 1548 in the register of the Federal Customs Service of Russia).
